A story in another register

Some futures arrive as a voice in the dark.

There is a particular pleasure in encountering speculative fiction through sound. The ideas do not become less strange, but they become intimate. A transmission, a warning, a private thought, an unanswered question, each has room to land before the next consequence arrives. INtanglement is built for readers who want science fiction to keep one hand on the human pulse.

This is not a story that asks technology to perform its tricks from a safe distance. Its central discovery reaches into ordinary life, relationships, responsibility, and the troubling shape of a future that has suddenly become visible. The science sets the terms. The people still have to live with them.

INtanglement is Book Two of The Michaela Wildwood Trilogy. If you are already following Michaela’s story, this audiobook gives you another way to continue. If you are new to the trilogy, the clearest beginning remains See the Forest for the World, the published first book. Either way, the listening experience belongs to one continuing story, not a disconnected side road.

Inside INtanglement

A future seen before it arrives.

For Michaela Wildwood, the future was supposed to be a mystery. Then her experiment captured a piece of it. In November 2020, she establishes a quantum network between her laboratory and an orbiting QuLink satellite, opening a portal through spacetime. A transmission error entangles her work with a network broadcast from January 6, 2021, trapping a glimpse of an event that has yet to happen.

That premise gives the story its pressure. A future event is no longer abstract. It is present enough to disturb the people who have seen it, but distant enough that no one can simply step around it. The discovery becomes a question of conscience as much as invention. What do you do with knowledge that may change everything, especially when acting on it can change the very thing you are trying to understand?

Michaela is a hearing-impaired savant and expectant mother, and the stakes do not live only in a laboratory. She must confront the consequences of knowing what lies ahead while history moves toward a moment she has already witnessed. That tension is the reason to listen: a big speculative idea kept close to one person’s decisions, relationships, and fear of getting the next choice wrong.

The audiobook is for readers who enjoy a future that refuses to stay comfortably theoretical. It is about discovery, yes, but also about responsibility. About how much a person can bear to know. About the way a technological breakthrough can enter a life already crowded with love, duty, doubt, and the ordinary need to keep going.

Why Book Two matters

The middle of a trilogy carries the weight.

Book Two is where a trilogy has to make good on the questions its first book opened. INtanglement does not treat its place in the series as an excuse to stand still. The world is already in motion, the consequences are closer, and the people in it have less room to pretend that a difficult discovery can remain safely theoretical.

That is also what makes it a rewarding listening point for readers who are already inside The Michaela Wildwood Trilogy. A voice can make uncertainty feel immediate. It can give a pause its proper tension, let an uneasy thought linger, and carry a listener through the moment when a possibility stops sounding like an idea and begins sounding like a decision.

The prelude is a useful first step if you want to test the story’s atmosphere, not a substitute for the book that follows it. The full audiobook is where the larger question has time to gather weight: what changes when an experiment reaches beyond its makers, and what does a person owe the future once they have seen a piece of it?

For a new listener, that is why the recommended order matters. See the Forest for the World gives the opening of Michaela’s story the room it needs. INtanglement then deepens the larger arc rather than asking you to reconstruct it from the middle. The complete trilogy guide can help you choose your route through the published books, the audiobook, and the work still moving through Final Editing.

No future release is promised here. The story has three books, two published volumes, and one work in Final Editing. That honest shape is part of the experience. You can start with the work that is ready now, then follow the remaining story as Harrison shares it.

For readers who listen

A story can travel at the pace of a voice.

Whether you listen on a walk, during a long drive, or with the room finally quiet, an audiobook makes a different kind of space for a story. INtanglement offers the same questions at the center of Harrison Napier’s fiction: what happens when a new technology shifts the ground beneath a person’s feet, and what remains recognizably human when it does.
